Five Natural Health Tips to Make You Healthier

I was doing some checking around for good information regarding healthier choices  and came up with a treasure chest. I couldn't wait to share on the blog.

Many times, we become so complacent about healthier choices that we ignore the obvious things that we can do.  The key to better health may just be at our fingertips.

Here are five tips that can improve your overall health. Most can be used without any real effort.

A Creative Way to Cut Sodium

I know, most people are so accustomed to salt that they can't imagine their favorite dishes without it.  But, here are some good ways to replace table salt.

Try using large-flake sear or rock salt, or try a flavored kind.  Why? Bigger flakes with more flavor mean that  you will use less.

When walking make it really count

Research show that your walking pace is associated with life expectancy, so, if you are doing a "quick step" when walking, keep it up.  If your pace is a little slower, it is possible that health issues are slowing you down. Keep note, and if necessary, follow up with your MD.

Pecans and you

Did you know that pecans are chock full of vitamin E and other antioxidants that can help lower LDL, the bad cholesterol?  This also helps reduce the chance of blockages in blood vessels.

Healthier Snacks and You Kids

Try using a little ingenuity when making up snacks for the kids after school.  For example, cutting up fruit into creative presentations will make their eyes sparkle and stir the palate.  Making your own dips for veggies such as carrots and celery can't be beat.  They are crunchy and tasty.

Hot Flashes

Here's a good one.  Did you know that women who regularly experience hot flashes, especially women who have them earlier in life, have a lower incidence of cardiovascular disease and stroke than those who don't experience them?  Who'd ever think that you would welcome a hot flash?
