I just love the idea of going to the local supermarket or nearest ethnic grocery store to buy my beauty products. They are so much cheaper, and they are definitely more healthful.  Just think: how  many years have so many of us paid top dollar for the harmful paraben and sulfate laden products in the beauty supply stores and missed out on the natural goodness of whole foods?

The latest natural food that I have been checking out is the mango.  This food has been eaten for eons of time and has benefited health in almost too many ways to count.   Let's see how this plant can fit into your health and beauty programs.

The wonderful mango

The mango originated in Southeast Asia where it has been grown for over four thousand years.  They are now found in many parts of the tropical and sub-tropical world.  Amazingly, they can grow up to sixty feet and can bear fruit four to six years after planting.  The mangoes that we eat  here in the United States are imported from Haiti, the Caribbean, Mexico and South America. http://www.freshmangoes.com/

Health Benefits

Mangoes are full of sooo many healthful things.  They are rich in amino acids, niacin, calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamins A and C and potassium.  They are also high in fiber and water, making it  potent weapon against constipation and irregularity.

Mangoes  may also be helpful in conditions such as indigestion, cough, anemia, arthritis, hypertension, high cholesterol and many other diseases.  With so many nutrients, there are probably few ailments that couldn't improve with this wonderful fruit.

Beauty benefits

Mangoes are great for moisturizing the skin and hair. (Remember, they are high in water). So these are a must do if you have dry skin and hair. They are also helpful in many skin conditions such as acne and rashes.  I just read some great recipes for skin masks and creams that you might want to try.  Check out (http://www.window2india.com/).

Another great plus for mangoes is that you can consume them and enjoy their taste along with the aid that it brings to inner and outer beauty. For health and beauty, enjoy this whole food regularly.
