Brahmi oil and your hair health

Taj Spa at Taj Exotica, GoaImage via Wikipedia
I remain in awe at the numbers of natural oils and herbs that women have used through history to promote healthy hair and body. One example of such a product is brahmi oil. This healthful oil has been used for centuries in India and Asia and has a long list of properties that aids in promoting health of body, mind and spirit.

What is brahmi oil, you might ask, and how dies it help promote overall health and hair growth Well, let's take a look.

What is brahmi oil?

Brahmi oil is the medicated oil of the gotu kola leaf.  In Ayurveda* it is considered  a rejuvenator for the entire body.  The oil is beneficial for hair complaints and also promotes growth of long and lustrous hair.  It also helps control dandruff and  burning eyes.  It enhances brain rejuvenation by promoting sleep.  It is also used as a massage oil.

Now, the brand that I bought was Ramtirth Brahmis.  This oil states that it is a combination of pure coconut oil along with 22 Indian herbs.  It is produced according to ancient Ayurvedic formula called "Khara Pak Vidhi."

How should it be used?

Five to ten drops of this oil should be used on scalp in the morning, upon arising, or in the evening, before bed.

I have used it several times and have been quite pleased with the gentrle fragrances of coconut and gentle herbs.  I will be posting updates on  my experience with this oil periodically.  If you have used brahmi oil, please feel free to leave a comment on your experience.

*Ayurveda is a traditional medicine system of India.  It emphasizes re-establishing balance in the body through diet, lifestyle and exercise.
