I just came across some interesting information about probiotics that may boost the weight loss efforts of those of us who are trying to lose weight. I couldn't wait to share this information. I invite others to share experiences who have had weight loss success with probiotics.
Probiotics and digestion
Most folks are aware that probiotics are good for overall health as they promote more efficient digestion, aid in clearing up the discomfort of diarrhea, and helps build up the immune system.
According to the article, "Probiotics for weight loss" nutritionist, Margaret Furtado, provides information that suggests they may also boost weight loss. In her article, Ms. Furtado points to a Stanford University School of Medicine study wherein researchers noted that people who had had gastric bypass enjoyed more weight loss with probiotics. Also, as a result of similar studies, it has been concluded that normal weight people have a better balance of the benefitcial bacteria in their gut than overweight people, according to the article. This may prove beneficial in weight management.
How do we lose probiotics?
There are many factors that can contribute to the imbalance of bacteria in the gut. Taking antibiotics, stress , medications and eating an excess of empty calories: such as cakes and cookies.
To aid in weight loss, it is suggested that one should cut out all empty calories and fast food. Do not overeat. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables; exercise and drink plenty of water. Add a low fat and low sugar yogurt to the daily food routine which will help replace probiotics lost through use of antibotics.
