Contaminated water causes many more disease than we are aware. According to a United Nations report, "more people die from contaminated and polluted water than from all forms of violence, including wars." This is surprising information indeed.
According to the report, two million tons of waste-agricultural and industrial, as well as sewage are discharged every day into rivers and seas. This slush is capable of spreading illness and damaging ecosystems.
Even more startling is the fact that every 20 seconds, a child under the age of five dies from water-related disease.
It seems that careless and wanton waste disposal is endangering lives now, and in the future, unless drastic steps are taken to clean up the waste.
